Welcome Scott York

This week I have Scott York joining me for Wednesday Reads.
1) Good morning!  Tell us what you’re reading this week (please include author and genre).
iWoz by Steve Wozniak with Gina Smith
2) Why did you choose this particular book?
I teach computer history and this was a gift from a friend.
3) Tell us a little about it. Remember…NO spoilers!
Every year I teach about the history of the personal computer and the major players.  I try to expand on who these people are/were and even show videos from Biography and clips that explain how the personal computer came about but there is very little written or taped with Steve Wozniak who pretty much single-handedly invented the personal computer.  This book explains not only how he did it, his life and relationship with Steve Jobs but also gives a very clear explanation as to why as a founder of Apple he still did not take over Apple after the passing of Jobs.
4) What are you enjoying about it so far?
The technical insights into his development, designs, and ideas of technology and how they all came from what his father taught him as a young boy.
5.1) If this is an author you’ve read before, what makes you keep coming back for more?
He has never written a book and no one has written anything about him.
5.2) If this is a new author for you, would do you like about their work?
His writing is not particularly good but it is still entertaining due to the historical significance of what happened.  It took me a while to get into it but now I really want to learn more about what happened and how it happened.  I am scared to think what the original draft looked like and I am wondering what help Gina Smith was.  It is still basically a factual autobiography written by a non-author who writes how he speaks.  I know that many autobiographies are written in this style but this one is often repetitive and often sounds like Steve transcribed it and Gina simply wrote down what was on the tape.
