This week I have the talented Lyndi Lamont sharing what she’s reading this week.
1. What book and author are you reading this week and why?
I’m reading The Collector of Dying Breaths by M. J. Rose. It’s the latest in her Reincarnationist series, which I’ve followed since the start. The books are paranormal thrillers with some romantic subplots.
2. What are you enjoying about the book? NO spoilers!
I’ve long been fascinated by the notion of reincarnation, so that theme always attracts me to a book. Jac L’Etoile, the protanist of this book and the previous two, has a rare gift to experience past lives, not just her own but of other people she comes into contact with. Her natural inclination is to be a skeptic, but it’s getting harder for her to deny that there might be something to the idea of reincarnation.
3. I take it you’ve read this author before. What makes you keep coming back for more?
This series is so imaginative and richly detailed and the writing is often lyrical. Plus I like books that move between past and present and weave the two together. M.J. Rose does a ton of research and always finds interesting historical topics to weave into the books. This one involves the past life of Catherine de Medici’s perfumer. How it ties into Jac’s present is not yet apparent.
