TBR Roulette

Ah, the TBR pile.
For those who may not know, TBR is reader-speak for “To Be Read”. Usually it’s a stack of books on the bedside table that you want to read, but haven’t had a chance to get to yet. Because, you know, Life. Since I’m a digital reader, my TBR is stored on my nook. It saves me a lot of space, and frees up my bookshelves for research tomes and Keepers. I have a lot of books in my digital TBR pile.
lot of books.
Like 555 books.

Hi, my name is Christina and I’m addicted to buying books on my nook.
Five-hundred fifty-five.
That is a rather large and intimidating number. Yet I find myself reading the same six books over and over again — not that I’m complaining, mind; they are my favorites for a reason. But I need to give all my books equal love and all these wonderful authors a chance to be read. And since I am a fast reader, I don’t see why I can’t finish at least one book a week.
At that rate, it’ll take me…. hold on, I have to do math…
555 divided by 52 weeks a year equals… 10 years and 7 months to clear my TBR.
TenYEARS?! More than ten years!
And that’s if I don’t buy any more books.
Hah! That’s a good one. At least I know I’ll never run out of something to read.
So, what’s a gal to do when she has ten years worth of books to read? Where does she even start?
I’ll tell you.
She starts with a little game called TBR Roulette.

Like casino roulette, TBR Roulette is a game of chance. But instead of a random chance of colors and numbers, this game is all about the pages and books. The rules are simple and straightforward.

  • I (the reader) am given a set of 2 numbers
    • The first number must be between 1 and 78
    • The second number must be between 1 and 6
  • I go to that page in my nook library and pick the corresponding book on the page
    • That is the book I get to read next
    • In the event I’ve already read that book, I pick the title to the left

Let’s say, for example, I am given 39:3. On page 39 of my nook library and choose book 3 (top right). My next book to read would be Twice Upon A Time by Samantha Grace.

That’s all there is to it.
But where am I to get these numbers? Why from you, of course! I am turning to you, dear friends, to help me tackle my TBR. All I ask is that you give me three sets of numbers.
Random sets of numbers from strangers will decide which of the 555 books I get to read next. Unless there’s a new release I’m dying to read which would take precedence. Duke of Pleasure, anyone?
So, let the fun begin!
